JWO Media - Story is Our Focus

JWO Media is a Brooklyn based production company focused on film, television and educational media projects. Our mission is to create projects that speech to every fiber of the human condition. We want our audiences to laugh, to THINK and be inspired. We want our audiences to LEARN through engaging stories. We want our audiences to FEEL.

We are normalizing producing projects that are unique and that challenge the conventional. We are telling stories of marginalized people and amplifying the voices of women.

In short, we are shaking things up with a little bit of help from our friends.

JWO Media is an extension of the work of award winning producer, writer and emerging director Joanna White-Oldham. Filmmaking and education are her life passions.

Selected as a NATPE Emerging Producer in 2018, Joanna currently conceptualizes and develops unscripted programming for Scott Sternberg affiliate 13Brains. 13Brains sold its first show to a major streaming service last year. In addition to her unscripted work, White-Oldham has produced several short films, most notably, The Company You Keep, 3rd Place winner of NYWIFT 2020 Online Shorts Festival and The Takeover, Semi-Finalist, Dumbo Film Festival. She is currently developing two projects: Weathering, a surrealist and experimental short film and Back Spin, a feature.

In addition to her work as a creative, Mrs. White-Oldham has spent approximately fifteen years in education. She has taught English, Drama and Video Production at both middle and high school levels for Atlanta Public Schools, New York City Schools and the Colleton County Arts Council. Upon completing her masters studies in Adult Education, Joanna expanded her knowledge of adult learning theory, curriculum development and instruction to the healthcare setting, securing instructional designer roles at some of America's finest medical institutions: NYU Langone Health, Providence Health Systems and Hartford Healthcare, to name a few.

Joanna is a member of New York Women & Film, the Black Television & Film Collective and WOC Unite.
